Antigua joins the Sustainable Furnishings Council:

Antigua is pleased to announce its membership in the SFC.

“As a company that has long been involved in reforestation, sustainability and rural development, this was a natural step for us” says Antigua partner, Rex Murphy.  “As a company that is committed to improving the industry’s impact on our environment, we are excited about the myriad of new eco-friendly products that we will be rolling out in coming years.  We also proud to be a part of such an exciting initiative as the SFC.”

During this October’s High Point Market, Antigua will also be a proud sponsor the Educational Efforts of the Sustainable Furnishings Council.

Antigua Furniture’s new eco-friendly finish can be found in IHFC’s InterHall during the Fall Market this October.

Antigua has continued its reforestation efforts by working in conjunction with rural indigenous communities in Guatemala’s rural highlands.

The most recent project was undertaken in September when Bill Miller, a founding partner of Antigua Furniture and head of Sustainability Initiatives, planted another 3,000 trees in Chupol, Chichicastenango.  The project was undertaken in collaboration with a group of 30 families of subsistent farmers who were seeking funds and on-site assistance to bring the project to fruition.  Antigua stepped up once again to make this initiative a reality.
